SOLDIER, Iowa - Terry LeRoy Swain, 64, of Soldier died Monday, July 30, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Soldier Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jack Torgersen officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Services of Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Swain was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Soldier, the son of LeRoy and Lena (Hamlin) Swain. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1955. He married JoAnn Grause on May 31, 1964, at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She died in 1967.

He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church and the Masonic Lodge in Moorhead, Iowa. He spent his life farming and was involved in several other farm related business ventures. He enjoyed 10 years of catering as a business hobby.

Survivors include a brother, Richard of Soldier; four sisters, Kay and her husband, Ken Harfst of Webster City, Iowa, Nancy Swain of Fremont, Neb., Sandra Tilson of Denver, and Kathy and her husband, Dennis Kennedy of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Carol Hewett of Sioux City; 12 nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Swain.
