Ward E. Grossnickle

MAPLETON, Iowa - Ward Edward "Bud" Grossnickle, 66, of Mapleton died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Ron Lamm officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Grossnickle was born April 5, 1935, in Pine River, Minn., the son of Archie and Evelyn (Denning) Grossnickle. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was employed with Paul Geadelmann, then as an over the road truck driver, a custom farmer and then with CHN Garbage.

He married Rita Tadlock on Dec. 19, 1998, in Mapleton.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Randy and Laurie of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two daughters, Karen and her husband, Kenny Marsh, and Joann Grossnickle and Jerry, all of Fort Dodge; four stepsons and their wives, Jim and Angela Robinson of Camp Le Jeune, N.C.; Louie and Becca Robinson of Coleridge, Neb., Len and Amanda Tadlock of Mapleton and B.J. and Amanda Robinson of Wayne, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Jolene Hyde of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Donna Mae Winans of Indio, Calif., and Tina Grossnickle of Pine Ridge, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
