Mabel O. Farber

ONAWA, Iowa - Mabel O. Farber, 96, of Onawa died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Onawa City Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Mrs. Farber was born Dec. 8, 1904, in Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Mamie (DeVault) Maxwell.

She married Clay Farber on Nov. 5, 1927, in Vermillion, S.D. The couple made their home in Onawa. Her husband died Jan. 5, 1974, in Onawa.

She was a member of First Christian Church and Eagles Auxiliary in Onawa.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Yvonne Maxine and Ernest Sick of Onawa; two sons and their wives, Howard Russell and Donna, and Bernard Lyle and Phyllis, all of Onawa; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Farrell and Ruby Maxwell of Yorba Linda, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Gray of Dunlap, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Leonard Reising of Onawa.

She also was preceded in death three brothers, three sisters and a grandson.
