TURIN, Iowa - Joan Jeanette Madsen, 69, of Turin died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Richard Layman of United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Ingeman Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Mrs. Madsen was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Turin, the daughter of Leonard and Gertrude (Givens) Crosgrove. She was raised in Turin and graduated from Onawa High School in 1948.

She married Richard Madsen Jr. on April 14, 1951, in Sioux City. The couple made their home on a farm near Turin. She was employed as a nursing assistant with Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa for 18 years.

Survivors include her husband; five sons, Gary and his wife, Jackie, Tim and his wife, Susie, and Brian, all of Turin, Rick of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Randy and his wife, Vicky of Onawa; three daughters, Kathy Madsen and Patsy and her husband, Bud Allen, all of Turin, and Peggy and her husband, Adam Davis of Blencoe, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Rory, Chris, Andrea, Mindy and Christy Madsen, Jamie, Heath and Nathan Allen, Tracy Bell and Sydney Joan Davis; three stepgrandchildren, Wendy Green and Bob and Brad Rogers; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Giles and Elenore Crosgrove of Coos Bay, Ore.; and two sisters, Nora Nelson of Hubbard, Ore., and Nadine and her husband, Earl Rowland of Newcastle, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Robbie; an infant granddaughter, Jessica Madsen; two sisters, Margaret and Unita; and two brothers, Lloyd and Harley.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Rory, Chris, Andrea, Mindy and Christy Madsen, Jamie Heath and Nathan Allen and Tracy Bell.
