WHITING, Iowa - June A. Dawdy, 75, of Onawa, formerly of Whiting, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Burgess Health Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Onawa with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Hite Cemetery, rural Whiting. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Dawdy was born March 3, 1926, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles Edward and Bessie Mae (Olsen) Green. She attended school in Sioux City. She married Melvin Wesley Dawdy on Jan. 17, 1943, in Dakota City. They lived in the Sioux City area until moving to Whiting in 1975. They moved to Pisgah in 1995. Mr. Dawdy died Oct. 11, 1999, in Onawa. She moved to Onawa in December 2000.

Survivors include eight daughters, Deanna Gartner of Sloan, Iowa, Donna and her husband, Merlyn Klemme of Lawrence, Kan., Dixie and her husband, Steve Carda of Sioux City, Debra and her husband, Ed Hyer of Le Mars, Iowa, Dawn and her husband, Tom Beaulieu of Merrill, Iowa, Darla Meister of Sergeant Bluff, Darlene Hast of Whiting, and Denise Dawdy and her fiance, Shane Blake of Sergeant Bluff; four sons, Daniel and his wife, Diane of Little Sioux, Iowa, Dennis and his wife, Terri of Onawa, Donald of Le Mars, and Douglas and his friend, Lisa Cox of Castana, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Lorrie Dawdy of Onawa; 47 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Clarence Green and Richard and his wife, Rose Green, all of McCook Lake, Earl and his wife, Arlene Green, and Harry and his wife, Stella Green, all of North Sioux City, and Robert and his wife, Bonnie Green of Omaha; two sisters, Veta McClarey of Vancouver, Wash., and Lorraine and her husband, John Lewis of Jefferson, S.D.; and a sister-in-law, Margie Green of North Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean; a granddaughter, Merinda Carda; a grandson, Jose Nava; a brother, Donald Green; and a sister, Virginia Lewis.
