TURIN, Iowa - Addah Marguerite Johnston, 92, of Turin died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Mrs. Johnston was born Sept. 20, 1908, in Horton, Kan., the daughter of John and Mabel (Breed) Whisler. She was raised in America City, Kan., and attended school there, graduating from Havensville High School in 1926. The following year she moved to Onawa, where she worked at a variety of places, including Fyock's Cafe, Moen's Clothing, Beck's Apparel and Lupton's Drug Store. She married Herbert Hoover Johnston on Sept. 20, 1934, in Corning, Kan. The couple made their home on a farm near Turin. He died March 11, 1988. She became a resident of Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa in March.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Turin. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Terrance and Carole of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, John and Kathryn of Onawa, and James and Trudy of Turin; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Jodi and Beth Johnston, Rob and Marty Roush, Mark Johnston, Anne Johnston Hansen, Jennifer Johnston Ruth, Christina Johnston, Troy Johnson and Traci Johnston Yoch; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dick Whisler and Veryl Whisler, both of Topeka, Kan.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Jack and Giltner Whisler, and a sister, Lois Channel.
