MAPLETON, Iowa - Maurice Keith Zediker, 85, of Mapleton died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Masonic service conducted by Vesper Lodge, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Zediker was born Sept. 8, 1915, the son of Racy and Lillian (Muckey) Zediker. He was raised and educated in Monona County, Iowa.

He married Wanda Cameron on Oct. 21, 1936, in Gilmore City, Iowa. He farmed in Monona County. He also sold seed corn and was a salesman and county manager for Archer Oil. He was a square dance caller and a square dance and ballroom dance instructor.

He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Quarry Lodge A.F. & A.M., where he was a past Master, Sioux City Consistory, Abu Bekr Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star, Mapleton Rotary Club, Mapleton Community Club and Vintage Wheels Club. He served as District Soil Commissioner, township clerk, trustee and township commissioner for the F.S.A. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary and his wife, Kay, of Cushing, Iowa, Keith and his wife, Donna, of Mapleton and David and his friend, Liane, of Meadview, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; a brother and his wife, John and Dorothy of Mapleton; and three sisters, Caryl and her husband, Paul Smith, of Onawa, Iowa, Shirley Koenigs of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Harriett and her husband, Chris Nielson, of Mapleton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Delberta Hart; two brothers, James and a brother in infancy; and twin infant sisters.
