BLENCOE, Iowa -James Henry Howschultz, 80, of Blencoe died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Chapel with Elder Donnie Bothwell officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Stevens-Kelley Post 665, Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2694 and the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Howschultz was born July 10, 1920, in Blencoe, the son of Rudolph an Mary (Grapes) Howschultz. He grew up in the Blencoe and Onawa areas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Kathryn Nielsen on June 17, 1948, in Blencoe. They farmed in Blencoe until his retirement in 1984. They spent their winters in Columbus, N.M.

He was a member of American Legion Stevens-Kelley Post 665 and Monona County VFW Post 2694.

Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Georgia and her husband, Clyde Mullens, and Ellen Surber, all of Blencoe; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bernard Ballantyne, Ronnie Surber, Mark Hughes, Dale Weihe, Denny Hughes and Bill Noble.

Memorials may be directed to Burgess Home Health/Hospice.
