Maurice R. Mustard

ONAWA, Iowa - Maurice R. Mustard, 89, of Onawa died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Richard P. Layman officiating. Burial will be in Onawa City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Mustard was born Aug. 31, 1911, near Onawa, the son of Frank J. and Blanch (Deane) Mustard. He moved with his family to Thurman, Iowa, before returning to Onawa. He attended Onawa Public Schools.

He married Irene Holsapple on June 29, 1932, in Tekamah, Neb. He was employed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a survey party chief. He retired in 1976 after nearly 30 years.

He was a member of United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Donald and Ellen Mae of Onawa and Ronald and Belva of Highland, Ind.; five grandchildren, Brian and Kirk Mustard, Brenda Bromander, Lori Zimmerman and Stacey Johnston; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Aurilla Mustard of Onawa; and a brother, Lester Deane of Susanville, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Helen Beedle; a grandson, Barry; and a great-granddaughter.
