Helen H. Vannier

UTE, Iowa -Helen H. Vannier was born in Ute, Iowa, on April 27, 1912, the daughter of John Henry and Ida Dorothea Witt. She died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of eighty-eight.

On March 16, 1943, Helen was united in marriage to Henry Vannier. After Henry’s discharge from the Army, the couple moved to Chicago, Illinois, where each had a career with the Federal Government. They both retired and moved to Fayetteville in 1972, where they made many new friends. They enjoyed their friends and have continued many of their hometown friendships over sixty years.

Helen was active in various women’s groups and church activities over the years and continued those relationships until she was forced to quit due to poor eyesight. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Henry, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and a nephew, Ronald L. Vannier, of Irving, Texas.

Memorial services were held at 9 a.m. were held at 9 a.m. Frday, May 4, 2001, at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Thomas Buzbee officiated the service with inurnment at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
