Mapleton, Iowa-- Jack Bridgeman, 56, of Mapleton died Friday, March 28, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in St Clair Cemetery in Ute, Iowa, with military rites conducted by American Legion Aaby Post 442 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5605, both of Ute. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Jackey Lee Bridgeman was born May 24, 1946, at Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Thomas E. and Margaret Viola (Hopkins) Bridgeman. He lived in the Ottumwa area until the age of 7, when he was adopted by Russell and Lillie Bridgeman of Ute, where he then grew up and was educated. He served his country in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army.

On August 14, 1970, Jack was united in marriage to Constance Louise Davis at Tekamah, Nebr. The couple made their home in the Mapleton area where along with farming, Jack worked for Maple Valley Construction, Mapleton Livestock and Auction in Mapleton and Godberson-Smith in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Jack was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton as well as American Legion Aaby Post 442 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5605.

Those survivors left to cherish Jack's memory include Connie, his wife of 32 years; a son and his wife, John Jeffrey Bridgeman and Mary Jane of Mapleton; two daughters, Jeanie Kay Dawdy of Sioux City, and Janette Jolene Baragar and her husband, Bradley of Mapleton; four grandsons, Jeffrey, Kristopher, Sean and Trevor; five brothers, Tom and Kenny, both of Bloomfield, Iowa, Gary of Ramona, Calif, David of Ottumwa, and Tommy of Kirksville, Mo.; 11 sisters, Alberta Rauth of Gage, Okla., Margaret Ingersoll of Jerseyville, Ill., Shirley Roberts of Iowa City, Iowa, Barbara Janney of Newark, Calif., Linda Marshall of Drakesville, Iowa, Judy Blew of Bloomfield, Hope Archer of Moulton, Iowa, Clara Jackson and Joann Jackson, both of Lancaster, Mo., and Becky Surber and Cindy Humphrey, both of Ottumwa; along with many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; adopted parents; a brother, Leo Hopkins; and five sisters, Thelma Wimp, Betty Skinner, Bev Porter and Doris and Janice Bridgeman in infancy.
