Clara Dorothy Conyers was born March 17, 1916, in Mapleton, the daughter of John and Josephine (Gaul) Koenigs. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She graduated from Mapleton High School in May 1935.

She was united in marriage to Russell K. Conyers on Sept. 15, 1935. To this union a son was born, Robert L. Conyers.

After living in California for three years, the couple returned to Mapleton and purchased the Paramount Cafe. They owned and operated the cafe until the 1940s. It was at that time that they started Conyers Music. She was a friendly face in many Mapleton Main St. businesses, the last one being Kraft Clothing, where she worked from 1963 until her retirement. Russell died Jan. 25, 1979.

She was an avid bowler, but her greatest joy was found in her family, spending time with her brothers and sisters and their families. She enjoyed going with her daughter-in-law, Roberta, on many trips to visit her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson in Kansas, Anthon, Iowa, and Le Mars, Iowa. Seeing her son walk in the door always put a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include a son and his wife, Robert and Roberta Conyers of Mapleton; two granddaughters and their husbands, Patty and Steve Medina of Minneola, Kan., and Carrie and Andy Rosauer of Anthon, Iowa; a grandson, Robert Conyers of Le Mars, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren, Nick Churchill, Jesse Medina, Tony Jensen and his wife, Danielle, Lindsey, Megan and Molly Rosauer and Derek, Dezirae and Alexx Conyers; a great-great-grandson, Payton Churchill; two brothers and their wives, Paul "Pirk" and Bette Koenigs of Mapleton and Raymond and Lorraine Koenigs of Pella, Iowa; a sister, Rose Urquhart of Roseville, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Koenigs of Council Bluffs, Iowa; along with several other relatives and many good friends.

Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Koenigs; and three sisters, Mary Kee, Loretta Otto and Katherine Dahms.
