Cleta Irene Waugh
WHITING, Iowa -- Cleta I. Waugh, formerly of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church in Whiting. Burial will be in Whiting Cemetery. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Cleta Irene Harding Waugh was born June 5, 1914, in Opportunity, Neb., the daughter of Bert and Esther (Johnson) Harding. She married Jewell O. Waugh on July 5, 1930, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She spent her life caring for her family. As grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, so did more love and joy for Cleta. Nothing brought her greater happiness than her family.

While living in the Whiting area, Cleta was an active member of Highridge Club, the Congregational Church, Eastern Star (Worthy Matron), Rainbow (Worthy Mother), the Monona County Chorus, which performed at the Iowa State Fair and the Women's Legislative League.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Clayton-Weaver of Sioux City and Jan (Lowell) Dendinger of Coralville, Iowa; a son-in-law, Lowell E. Dendinger; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marvel Brenden of Whiting; and sisters-in-law, Georgia Waugh of Whiting, Myrtle Waugh of Ponca City, Okla., and Helen Waugh of Chino Valley, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jewell; infant son, Norman; and a son-in law, Robert Clayton.
