ONAWA, Iowa -- Arla LaRoyce Wilson, 91, of Onawa died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the High Priest Maxine Burow officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Arla LaRoyce was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Minnie (Millard) Olson. She attended Soldier Public School and graduated in 1932. She received a teaching certificate at summer school in Cedar Falls, Iowa and taught country school.

She and Frank L. Wilson of Moorhead were married Sept. 30, 1935. They were the parents of three children, Carolyn, Richard and Francine. Carolyn died at one month and Francine died in 1972. Frank died in 2002.

She worked at the hardware store in Moorhead, while Frank was in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, they purchased the Skelgas Propane Gas dealership in Denison, Iowa. They later sold that and purchased the Dairy Treet in Denison, later in Ute, Iowa, and then the Dairy Sweet in Dunlap, Iowa. She worked along with her husband until the couple retired in 1976. They later moved to Onawa in 1987.

She joined the Community of Christ Church in 1945.

She leaves to mourn her a son and his wife, Richard and Sandra of Suffolk, Va.; three grandchildren, Randy Wilson of Norfolk, Va., Melanie Cormier of Lynchburg, Va., and Jeffrey Staben and his wife, Gabrielle of Omaha; two great-grandchildren; a half sister, Peggy (Mrs Richard) Parr; and many cousins and friends.
