BLENCOE, Iowa -- Robert Dale Collison, 78, of Blencoe passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Creighton University Hospital in Omaha, Neb., after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blencoe United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Reva B. Karstens officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Robert Dale was born south of Blencoe in Sioux Township on Nov. 6, 1926, the son of Earl W. and Lola Lucille "Bill" (Birk) Collison. He was a lifetime resident of Monona County, attended country school and graduated from Blencoe High School.

On Dec. 10, 1950, he married Lois M. Benson of Magnolia, Iowa. Together, they farmed in Monona County until he retired in 1992. Bob served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 19, 1955 until December 1956, and was a member of American Legion Stevens Kelley Post 665.

He was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ, a volunteer on the Blencoe Fire Department, a town councilman for many years and served on the Monona County Conservation Board and the Blencoe Co-op Board.

He enjoyed fishing, fishing trips, woodworking and tinkering. He loved nature and feeding birds and squirrels. Bob's greatest enjoyment was time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being a special "grandpa" to many children.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Blencoe; a son, Robert "Bob" and his wife, Beverly of Blencoe and their children, spouses and grandchildren, Robert "Rob" and Kyla Collison and Owen of Onawa, Randy and Felicia Collison, Cade and Colby of Bondurant, Iowa and Ryan and Erinn Collison, Jacob and Mason of Toledo, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Tony Phillips of Sigourney, Iowa, and their children, spouses and grandchildren, Stacey (Phillips) and Jared Nikkel, William and Natalie of Killduff, Iowa, and Nathan Phillips and sons, Jackson and Max of Keota, Iowa; a brother, Delbert Collison of Blencoe; two half-sisters and their husbands, Earlene and Corky Guerra and Marlene and Larry Riskey, all of Oregon; and a half-brother, Earl Collison of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Lucy (Freymuller) Collison; an infant daughter, Cheryl; twin brothers, Jackie and Billy; a brother, Herbert; and a sister-in-law, Dola Belle Collison.

Pallbearers will be Rob, Randy and Ryan Collison, Stacey and Jared Nikkel and Nathan Phillips.
