ONAWA, Iowa -- Cindy (Cade) Steinhoff, 58, of Onawa died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Bergen Mercy Medical Center in Omaha following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hornick United Methodist Church in Hornick, Iowa, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Cindy was born Oct. 8, 1948, in Chester, S.D., the daughter of Meader and Thelma (Solberg) Lunt. She was raised and attended school in Franklin and Madison, S.D. She married Darwin Cade in Madison and they made their home in Yankton, S.D.

She was a stay at home mom and cared for her children for many years. Later, she started her working career in banking and retail. She had been employed with Pamida for more than 20 years. In 1995, she moved from Yankton to Onawa at the opening of the Onawa Pamida Store, where she was assistant manager.

She and Jim Steinhoff were united in marriage on Dec. 31, 2006, in Onawa, where they made their home.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and bowling. She was an avid NASCAR fan. Most of all, she loved being with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; three daughters, Sherry (Larry) Boyd of Yankton, Sheila (Toby) Armijo of Casper, Wyo., and Shawna Hatch and her special friend, Tim Caba of Yankton; two stepdaughters, Kim (Brandon) Gibson of Electra, Texas, and Anne (Justin) Gode of Janesville, Minn.; her grandchildren, Zach and Nicole Boyd, Heather and Kaysia Armijo, Ashley and Alex Hatch and Kody, Karlie and Brayden Gibson; her mother, Thelma Lunt of Yankton; two sisters, Karen (Jim) Carr and Sharon Koller, all of Yankton; three brothers, Lee (Luann) Lunt of Brookings, S.D., Scot (Brenda) Lunt of Adrian, Minn., and Hugh (Gloria) Lunt of Oakland, Iowa; her father and mother-in-law, Jack and Gloria Steinhoff of Hornick, Iowa; three brothers-in-law, John (Debra) Steinhoff of Sioux City, Clifford (Janie) Steinhoff of Hornick and Gaylen (Judy) Steinhoff of Smithland, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Fred) Teach of Blair, Neb., and Sandra Rogers of Hornick; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; a brother-in-law, Brian Koller; a stepdaughter, Sara Steinhoff; and a brother-in-law, Mark Steinhoff.
