RODNEY, Iowa -- Maude Persinger, 104, of Rodney died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ticonic United Methodist Church, Ticonic, Iowa, with the Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery, near Rodney. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Maude Roselene Persinger was born March 16, 1903, on a farm near Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Rosele and Charlotte Catherine (Dunbar) Smothers. After the age of four, she moved with her parents to Ticonic, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.

On Sept. 7, 1920, she and Abner L. Persinger were united in marriage in Onawa, Iowa. The marriage was blessed with two children, Rex Abner Persinger and Ardis Lorraine LaBrune Christofferson. The couple farmed for 26 years northwest of Grant Center, Iowa. Mr. Persinger passed away Jan. 7, 1957. She worked for several years in the offices of three different doctors and for Willman Hardware, Willman Funeral Home and Rodney U.S. Post Office.

She joined Ticonic Methodist Church in the spring of 1920 and was the third of six generations to attend this church. She was a Sunday School teacher and pianist in the church for a number of years. She also was the pianist for a male quartet that sang for many funerals. She was the organist at the Rodney Church for 13 years. She also was a member of the Ember Rebekah Lodge 486.

Survivors include two children, Rex Persinger and his wife, Rose Marie of Hornick, Iowa, and Ardis Christofferson of Rodney; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Daisey Linden; three brothers, Glen, Leonard and Donald; a granddaughter, Brenda Persinger; and a son-in-law, Vernon LaBrune
