BLENCOE, Iowa -- Goldie Houdesheldt, 98, of Blencoe passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Blencoe United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Mary Wells officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Goldie was born March 20, 1909, in Modale, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lena (Engelke) McIntosh.

She married Ernest Houdesheldt in 1925. The couple made their home in Mondamin, Iowa, before moving to the Blencoe area. They moved into the town of Blencoe in April 1948. Ernest died Nov. 16, 1967. She stayed in her Blencoe home until Jan. 1, 2003, when she moved into Premier Assisted Living in Onawa. She had been a resident of Elmwood Nursing Home since May 7, 2004.

She loved and enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was devoted to children and enjoyed caring for them during her many years.

Survivors include a son and his wife, John "Eddie" and Nellie Houdesheldt of El Paso, Texas; three daughters, Mary Coy of Torrington, Wyo., Lola and her husband, Bill Scurlock of Onawa and Phyllis Mann of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Engen of Modale, Iowa, and Grace Baker of Blair, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Anne McIntosh and Dolores McIntosh, both of Blair; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ernest, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Heisler and Jean Wilkens; four sons-in-law, Fred Heisler, Sidney Wilkens, Everette Coy and Jack Mann; two granddaughters, Lynn Irene Scurlock and Lori Mann; three brothers, Francis "Soc", Harvey "Sam", and John McIntosh; two sisters, Ada Pegg and Gladys Peterson; a sister-in-law, Juanita McIntosh; and three brothers-in-law, Walter Pegg, Elmer Engen and Fred Peterson.
