UTE, Iowa -- Beverly O. Olson, 74, of Ute passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Beverly Olson was born June 29, 1933, in Kenwood, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Edna (Kroll) Malone. She attended country school in Berne, Iowa, and Ute. She had lived in and around Ute all her life.

She was united in marriage to Lowell Carstens in November 1950, at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. They had three children, Rita Carstens of San Diego, Calif., Randy Carstens and his wife, Robyn of Castana, Iowa, and Richard and his wife, Cathy of Ute.

She married Delbert Olson in 1980 at Ute United Methodist Church. They loved to dance, play cards and bingo and enjoyed being with family and friends.

She was willing to help anyone and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren, Alison and Aaron Carstens of Sioux City and Casey Carstens of Ute, along with her stepchildren, Richard and Jim Olson of Mapleton, Iowa, and Lorrie and Kent Moffitt of Ute, and her stepgrandchildren, Heather and Andy Conto, Hezekiah and Darren of Fort Collins, Colo., and Chris and Jen Conto, Quintin and Kaitlyn of Ute. Her pets, Lucky and Cookie were very close to her heart.

She worked for the Charter Oak-Ute School as a cook, Wal-Mart in Denison, Iowa, Farmland in Denison and at Ute Lockers. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton and Royal Neighbors of America.

Along with her husband, children, stepchildren, grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, she was also survived by a sister, Barbara and Buddy Leisinger; and three brothers, Delbert and Dorthy Kroll of Mapleton, Iowa, Larry and Myrna Malone of Des Moines and Michael Malone of Ute.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Oscar and Meta Olson; a stepgrandson, Randall Olson; three brothers, D.L. "Buck", O.L. "Ollie" and DeLaine; and a sister, Beatrice.
