Louise A. Goehring

ONAWA, Iowa -- Louise A. Goehring, 66, of Sioux City, formerly of Onawa, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service of Onawa.

Louise was born Oct. 19, 1921, at Onawa, the daughter of Thomas and Zaida (Miller) Lambert. She was raised in the Onawa area.
Louise and Jule Vaughn Goehring were united in marriage on June 14, 1953 at First Christian Church in Onawa. They later moved to Sioux City where they made their home.

Jule was career military, and after his retirement in 1983 the couple spent their winters in Arizona. Jule passed away Feb. 24, 2007.

Louise was a former member of First Christian Church in Onawa, and later a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed gardening, cards, casinos and traveling. She and Vaughn spent more than 20 years wintering in Arizona.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Barbara Lambert and Donna Rae Hyatt, both of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jule; her parents; two brothers, Bernard and his wife, Lois, and Lyle; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Hyatt.
