Onawa, Iowa—Odessa (Bellis) Fleck, 88, of Onawa died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Odessa (Bellis) Fleck was one of nine children born to Adam and Inez (Albertson) Bellis, in Castana, Iowa, on Feb. 17, 1919. She grew up on a farm outside of Castana and graduated from Castana High School.

She married Raymond E. Fleck on June 29, 1938, in Sioux City. They had four children, Belva Inez, Linda Ray, Johnnie Joe and Jeffrey Lynn. Her husband died February 17, 2005. She was a domestic housekeeper for many in the area.

She served as a Cub Scout den mother and traveled extensively with the husband throughout the U.S., while raising their family. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, music and family.

Survivors include her children, Belva and her husband Ron Mustard of Fishers, Ind., Linda Bellon of Perry, Iowa, Joe Fleck and his wife, Joanne of Rodney, Iowa, and Jeff Fleck of Fort Wayne, Ind; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Adam “Pete” and Tillie Bellis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister and her husband, Virginia “Mackie” and Willis Brink; two sisters-in-law, Leona (Bellis) Sweet and Frankie Bellis, both of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Roy, Robert “Bob”, Leo and Charlie Bellis; two sisters, Leola Dinwiddle and Katherine Meadows; and a son-in-law, John Bellon.
