The Obituary of
Mrs. B.S. Harper

Virginia May Coate, daughter of Calvin Coate and Candace Coppock was born near Unionville, Mo. March 21, 1874 and departed this life at her home in Mountain Grove, Mo., Sept 28, 1950 at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 7 days.

At the age of about two years she came with her parents to Iowa and settled near Coon Rapids in Guthrie County, where they resided for a number of years. Later they moved to Monona County where she lived until 1941, when she moved to Missouri to make her home.

She was united in marriage to Bert S. Harper on December 22, 1892 at Logan, Iowa. To this union three daughters and one son were born, Mrs. Myrtle McGarr, Smithland: Mrs. Gladys Wood, Castana: Mrs. Amy Taylor, Moorhead: and Ronald R Harper, Sioux City.

She was united with the Church of Christ in Moorhead in 1905, having been a member for 45 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, four children, six grand children, eight great grand children: one sister, Mrs. Caroline Gemmell of Denver, Colo: 3 brothers, Fern Coate of Moorhead: J C Coate of Wichita, Kana: and S T Coate of Texas and also a host of relatives and friends.

Her parents, five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Christian church in Moorhead, Rev James Stephenson officiating. Burial was in Spring Valley cemetery under the direction of the Oldham Funeral home of Soldier.
