Henry D Bockelmann

Henry D. Bockelmann, age 84, of Mapleton, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 17, 1987, in a nursing home in Mapleton, Iowa, after a long illness.

Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1987, in the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. The Reverend Les Kimball officiated. Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation was after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 1987, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Mr. Bockelmann was born on May 21, 1902, to Henry and Katherine (Koltz) Bockelmann, Sr., in Berne. He married Leta Bargenquast on February 12, 1931, in Denison, Iowa. The couple farmed at Charter Oak, Iowa and later near Smithland, Iowa, He also was a bus driver for the Smithland School and had worked at Westendorf Manufacturing for a number of years. He retired in 1971 and the couple moved to Mapleton, Iowa.
Mr. Bockelmann was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, and a grandchild, Joel, both of Battle Creek, Iowa, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bockelmann, Sr., of Charter Oak, Iowa: and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Elizabeth) Neddermeyer of Ute, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife: two sons, Norman of Battle Creek, Iowa and David of Oto, Iowa: two daughters, Mrs Cecil (Pauline) Yockey of Carter Lake, and Mrs. Andrew (DeLoris) Nitzchke of Lawton, Iowa: a brother, Elmer of Denison, Iowa: a sister, Mrs. Adolph (Amelia) Nemitz of Ricketts, Iowa: seventeen grandchildren: and twelve great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jason Bockelmann, Jeff Nitzchke, Lonnie Bockelmann, Gary Bockelmann, Stuart Nitzschke, Lowell Bockelmann, Kevin Yockey, and Dan Bockelmann,
