The obituary of Mrs Meta Nelson

Mrs Meta Nelson was born January 1, 1895 at Missouri Valley, Iowa, a daughter of Fred and Anna Mandelco and passed from this life at home in Onawa on Wednesday evening November 30, 1960. At the time of her death she was 65 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Mrs Nelson had been a Monona County resident the past 32 years coming to this county in 1928 from Missouri Valley.

She was baptized in the Christain Church at Missouri Valley where she held her membership and in later years had affilated with the First Christian Church of Onawa.

On September 2, 1913 she was united in marriage with Harry Nelson at Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union 7 children were born.

Her survivors included her husband, Harry Nelson of Whiting: 8 sons, Raymond of Castana, Robert of Hubbard, Oregon, Karl of Junction, Texas,Clifford of Onawa, Gerald of Anthon, Iowa, Frederick, Milford and Frances all of Whiting, IOwa, 3 daughters, Mrs Maxine Christensen of Sloan, Iowa, Mrs Lenora Gloyer of Whiting and Mrs Shirley Richardson of Onawa, Iowa. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs Sophia Hatcher of Logan, Iowa and Mrs Lena Bandelow of Lincoln, Nebraska. A number of other relatives and a host of friends who mourn the passing of our loved one.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 3rd at the Pearson Funeral Home, Rev Everett Epperson conducted the service.
Mrs Orland Ferris sang "Peace In the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied at the organ by Mrs Oliver Kelley.

The casket bearers were Harley and Glen Thomas, Denman Dean, Clarence Gloyer, Lowell Jenkins and George Bowman.

Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery at Whiting.
