The Obituary of Pearl Funkhouser Anderson

Pearl Funkhouser Anderson was born at Whiting, Iowa, on October 11, 1885, the youngest daughter of Dan and Flora Funkhouser, and passed from this life at the Onawa Hospital, Onawa, Iowa, on August 4, 1961. Death came at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 24 days.

She was united in marriage with Alva LeRoy Anderson in Onawa, Iowa, on Spetember 24, 1904. They spent the first year of their married life at Pender, Nebr., then resided in the Whiting community. Alva preced her in death December 30, 1958.

Survivors include three sons, Floyd of South Soux City, Nebr., Howard of Whiting and Donnie of Onawa; four daughters, Mrs. Fern Gulick, Mrs. Beulah Kron and Mrs. Dollie Heck, all of Whiting, and Mrs. Minnie Thomas of Des Moines; one sister, Annie Huffman of Decatur, Nebr.,along with sixteen granchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One daugher, Olive, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 7, 1961, in the Christian Church at Whiting with Rev. E. E. Epperson of Onawa officiating. Nancy Brenden was soloist, accompanied at the organ by Alice Anderson. Mrs. Carrie Blackwell, Mrs. Roy Burns and Mrs. Courtney McCandless were in charge of the flower arrangements. Casket bearers were Roy Gregory, George Walker, Henry Jester, Elmer Baker, Walter Westergaard and Earl Renne. Burial was in the Harrison cemetery with funeral arrangements in charge of the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting.
