Mrs. Olaf Leff Passes Away

Ericka Erickson was born in the northern part of Sweden February 4, 1844 and came to America in 1870. She was married to Olaf Leff at Galva, Illinois in 1870. They settled in Henry County, Illinois where they lived until the spring of 1882 when they came to Monona County where they have since resided.

In her youth she was confirmed in the Lutheran church and after her marriage she and her husband became members of this church in Cambridge, Illinois from which faith she never departed.

She was the mother of eight children, two girls Engla and Alma, who died in infancy. Albert of Onawa, Mrs. Olive Thomson of Ticonic, Oscar and Mrs. Nellie Reese both of Turin: Charles who died October 4, 1918 and Mrs. Ivie Cork, of Page, Nebraska.

Her husband preceded her in death passing away January 18, 1828. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her death two brothers in Sweden, also twenty one grandchildren.
For the last five years Mrs. Leff made her home with her daughter Mrs. Peter Thomson and for over twenty months had been confined to her bed. She died August 23, 1929.

She was a kind and loving mother, whose devotion to her children never ceased, even to the last hours of her life. She was a true and tried friend and a neighbor who never shirked any task to help another. Strangers knew her ministering hand and none appealed to her in vain.
All her friends delighted to pay tribute to her during the months of her illness, always remembering her anniversaries with cards, letters and flowers.

A cherished place will always be kept for her in the memory of all who knew her- no one will ever fill the place of Grandma Leff.
