Mildred Olive Brunker

Mildred Olive Brunker, the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Brunker, was born September 30th 1911, and died at her home near Blencoe, Monday, September the 25th, age 10 years, 11 months and 25 days. She would have been eleven years old this coming Saturday.

Death loves a shining mark, we are told, and has found one of the brightest in this young life. How sad it seems for one so young to be compelled to die.

When the weight of years comes to man, and he has fulfilled the measure of his ambition then death seems more natural to him, but not so in the springtime of years. We sorrow but not without hope. Our grief is softened by the promise of the gospel. Her feet shall press the rough paths of earth no more. They walk the lighted way in that nightless land where joy and hope abide.

While she was very young to die: while she was needed by her loved ones: while she had much to live for, yet she is better off, for all the joy of heavens is hers.

Mildred was a sweet child-kind and loving, possessing a sunny disposition. She leaves a father and mother and sister Margaret Louise, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon, September 27th from the Congregational church in Blencoe, in charge of Rec. C.S. Kleckner of the Onawa Christian church. The body was laid to rest in the Onawa Cemetery.
