Mrs. Burrell Jividen

Viola Taylor was born in Douglas County, Illinois, October 19th, 1850 and died March 8th, 1920 at her home here in Onawa. At the age of seventeen she united with the Baptist Church at Tuscalo, Illinois and has remained faithful in that faith through her entire life. On March 15th, 1878 she was united in marriage to Burrell Jividen and came to Monona County and settled on a farm near Onawa where they resided for many years.

To this union was born nine children who where all at the bedside of this loving mother in her last hours on earth and who administered tender and loving care to her during her illness. The children are Mrs. Idam Hodges, Mina Brunker, Hattie Cooper, Lee and Vern. The four younger girls, Iva, Sarah, Jennie and Jessie were all at home. Besides her children and loving husband, she has four sisters and eight grandchildren, besides a host of friends who will mourn her departure.

Mrs Frank Beedle, of Onawa, was the only sister able to be with her in her last sickness. For the past three years she has been failing in health, but all that medical skill and loving hands could do was for her but of no a vail. Five years ago she moved with her husband and four younger daughters from the farm near Blencoe to the home in Onawa where she and family have resided since that time.

A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled:
A place is vacant in our home,

Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled
The beam his love and given,
And though the body moulders here
The soul is safe in heaven.

The funeral services were conducted from the Onawa Christian church in charge of Rev. C.S. Kleckner and the body was laid to rest in the Onawa Cemetery.
