Clara J Edgar HendersonClara J. Edgar was born in Scott County, Iowa on October 2nd, 1861 and died at her home at Morningside, Sioux City, Iowa February 26th, 1920, aged 58 years, 4 months and 24 days.
When a child her parents moved to Grant Township, Monona Country, Iowa and settled on a farm east of Ticonic where she grew to womanhood.
On October 2nd, 1883, she was united in marriage with Burton W Henderson and to this union six children were born, all of whom survive here.
She spent nearly twenty-five years of her life in Rodney, after which she spent two years on a farm near Royal, Nebr., moving to Morningside in March 1913, where she resided up to the time of her death. She always took an active interest in religious work, being a charter member of the Congergational church of Rodney and instrumental in the erection of the church building there. At the time of her death she was a member of the Grace Methodist Church of Morningside.
She leaves to mourn their loss four sons: Howard E, of Cedar Rapids, Ia: Edgar F., of Omaha, Nebr., Ralph A., and Harold W. of Sioux City, Iowa: two daughters, Jessie M, and Helen M., of Sioux City, Iowa: three brothers W.H. Edgar, of Sioux City: E.B. Edgar of Minneapolis and F.D. Edgar of Lincoln, Nebr: one sister, Mrs. Emma Otto, of Brooklyn, N.Y. besides two grandchildren Genevieve and John Henderson, other relatives and many friends.
The funeral was held at Rodney, Saturday forenoon, February 28th, and interment made in the family lot in the Grant Cemetery. Rev. W.L. Patterson of Peterson, Iowa, officiating.
