E.J. Cunningham (1884-1945)

DOWNING SELANDER, SHADDUCK KASSING

Services were held at the Pearson chapel last Friday afternoon for Edward Cunningham, who passed away at his home on Monday of last week. Rev. Morris Bailey conducted the service. Burial was in the St. Clair Cemetery at Ute, with Carl Clark, Frank Koontz, Frank Cox, Harry Kratz, Charles McCann and Ad Jones acting as pallbearers.

Edward James, son of John and Frances Cunningham, was born at Mapleton, Iowa, June 7, 1884 and passed away from this life at his home in east Onawa, March 19, 1945.

He grew to manhood in Mapleton and on February 5, 1905 he was united in marriage to Maude Kassing at Castana. To this union were born four children, who survive the father.

Mr. Cunningham had spent his entire life in Monona County, living in Mapleton, Castana, Ute and Rodney before moving to Onawa in 1933.

For thirty five years he has worked as a contractor and builder until last November when failing health forced him to cease his work.

He is survived by his widow and four children, William E. of Coleridge, Nebraska, Private First Class Ernest of the United States Army, Walter W, now employed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Lois F. of Omaha, Nebraska.

There are also three brothers, Roy of Ute, Charles of Long Beach, Calif, and Clarence of Wahoo, Nebraska; and four sisters, Mrs. Emma Downing and Mrs. Anna Selander of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Ethel Shadduck of Long Beach, California.

There ar ealso two grand children, several neices and nephews and a great many friends by whom he will be mourned.
