Mrs. Bernard Stewart, 56, died Wednesday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church at Onawa. The Rev. Everett Epperson will officiate. Burial will be at the Onawa Cemetery under the direction of the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.

Mrs. Stewart, the former Hazel LaVonne Stanton, was born July 14, 1922 at Blencoe, Iowa.

She was married Sept. 9, 1940, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a homemaker. She lived in the Onawa, Blencoe and Turin areas before moving to Sioux City in 1943.

She was a member of the First Christian Church at Onawa.

Survivers include the widdower; two sons, John M. of Sioux City and Bernard J. of South Sioux City; two brothers, George of Onawa and Alec of North Sioux City; five sisters, Mrs. Fern Perkins of Wahoo, Neb., Mrs. Leonard (Myra) Hennious of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Helen Hendricks, Mrs. Frank (Bessie) Farwell and Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Lindley, all of Onawa; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
