dated October 22, 1987:Nadine W. Berens, 68, of Dunlap was born March 3, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wingate of Soldier. She died Oct. 15, 1987, at Methodist Midtown Hospital in Omaha.
Nadine graduated from Soldier High School in 1936. For several years she was very active as organist and vocalist in the Soldier Lutheran Church.
Later she was employed at the Soldier telephone office for six years. She also worked at the Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha during the war years in the early 1940’s.
On March 21, 1943, she was married to Bernard W. Berens of Dunlap. They were active in farming for 36 years. They had two sons, Allen and Merlyn Berens, and five grandchildren.
Nadine was active in the Dunlap Lutheran Church for a number of years. She was organist from 1955 to 1987. She sang for many weddings, funerals and other occasions.
Survivors are her husband, Bernard; two sons and their wives, Allen and Marilyn, Merlyn and Patricia; five grandchildren; a brother, Harlow Wingate of Soldier; a sister, Alice Thoreson of the Twin Cities; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Services were held Monday morning at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wendell Berggren officiating. Music was provided by Jerry Baldwin and Noel Wingate with Betty Berggren at the organ.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Kenneth Gorham, Leonard Bolton, Enos Keairnes, Fritz Baldwin, Floyd Hein and Bill Rannells.
