dated April 25, 2002:Funeral services for Lorraine B. Price of Dunlap were held Thursday morning, April 18, 2002,at St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap. Pastor Carla J. Ingebretsen officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Musician was Fran Klein and congregational hymns included “The Old Rugged Cross” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” Vocalist was Max Poe who sang “In the Garden” and “Jesus Loves Me.”
Interment was made at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Dunlap. Bearers were Darrell Andrews, Virgil Ehlers, Ronnie Hull, Brad Kline, Harold Melby, Mike Melby, Roger Melby, Paul Weber. Fouts Funeral Home of Dunlap and Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
Lorraine was born November 28, 1915 in Moorhead to parents Adolph and Lena (Evenson) Melby. She attended country school in Monona County.
On December 22, 1934, Lorraine married Claude Price. The couple lived in Mapleton and then Sioux City. Claude died on April 13, 1970. Lorraine moved to Dunlap. She worked as a cook in a cafe in Dunlap.
She was baptized on May 26, 1916 at the Soldier Lutheran Church. She loved to play marbles, scrabble and crossword puzzles.
Lorraine died Monday, April 15, 2002 at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap at the age of 86 years, four months and 18 days.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband;son, Donald Claude Price on January
31, 2000; four brothers,Vernon as an infant, Kenneth, Willard and Leonard Melby and five sisters, two in infancy, Mildred Andrews, Gilma Burson and Agnes Weber.Lorraine is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kristy Price of Ida Grove; three grandchildren, Kirk Donald Price of Chicago, Ill., Todd Allen Price of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Kim Marie and her husband F. Austin Jones of Grinnell; five great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Hull of Moorhead; two brothers, Arnold Melby and his wife Vesta of Onawa and Dale Melby of Woodbine and many other relatives and friends.
