FUNERAL SERVICES SATURDAY FOR KENNETH MELBY

Kenneth Harold Melby, the son of the late Adolph and Lena Melby was born November 27, 1906 near Moorhead, and died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 1, 1966 at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 5 days.

He spent his entire life east of Moorhead. He was engaged in farming until 1938. For the past 24 years he was employed by Monona County where he operated a maintainer in the road department.

January 25, 1928 he was united in marriage to Donna Nichols at Logan. Early in life he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Lutheran church at Soldier.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; four brothers, Arnold and Willard of Dunlap, Dale of Woodbine and Leonard of Moorhead. There are five sisters: Mildred, Mrs. Richie Andrews of Moorhead; Lorraine, Mrs. Claude Price of Sioux City; Agnes, Mrs. Earl Weber; Gilma, Mrs. Herbert Kline, Edna, Mrs. Leo Hull, all of Dunlap. There are many othr relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 1966 at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry C. Sorensen, officiating. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson sang “In the Garden” and “No Disappointment in Heaven” accompanied by Mrs. Harry Anderson at the organ.

Pallbearers were: Bernard Thoreson, Stanley Frydenlund, Howard Nordaker, Boyd Pratt, Carl Peterson and Earl Ballentyne. Interment was in the Soldier Valley Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.
