Sioux City Journal - August 23, 1999

Whiting, Iowa - John Robert Richardson, 62, of Whiting died in Sioux City.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Whiting City Cemetery, with the Rev. Shawn Walden officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Richardson was born June 24, 1937, in Sioux City, the son of Harl and Mary (Hohenstein) Richardson. He attended school in Whiting and served in the Army.

He was employed on an oil rig in Louisiana briefly, then as a heavy equipment operator with Brower and Jensen Construction.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Monona County Post 2694 in Onawa.

Survivors include four daughters, Jackie, Joni, Beth and Kelly, all of Houston; three stepchildren, Bryan Kron and his wife, Vicki, Brenda and her husband, Tom Rich and Barbi and her husband, Curt Eithier, all of Whiting; a specail friend, Andy; a brother and his wife, William and Beverly of Marengo, Ill., three sisters, Joan and her husband, Bill Mortensen of Whiting, Lucille Eliason of Sloan, Iowa and Rosemary and her husband, Gene Framke of Deland, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Esther Richardson of Whiting; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harlan; four brothers, Wayne, Carl, Don and Jim; and three sisters, Kathleen, Dorothy and Pauline.
