Onawa, Iowa - Carl A. Richardson, 81, of Onawa died Tuesday, May 4, 1993, at the Whiting Nursing Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Onawa with the Rev. Bryan Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.
Mr. Richardson was born June 7, 1911, rural Whiting, son of Harlan and Mary (Hohenstein) Richardson. He married Leona Davis June 24, 1933, in Onawa. He farmed for several years prior to serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the service, he was a finish man on a grader for several construction companies. He retired in 1973.
Mr. Richardson was a member of First Christian Church of Onawa, David McNeill Post 129, American Legion of Onawa, and Weston Masonic Lodge 562, AF&AM of Whiting. He was a charter member of Monona Coutny VFW Post 2694.
Survivors include his wife, two sons and their wives, Gary L. and Marvalee of Lincoln, Ne., Jerry C. and Sandra of Logan, Ia., three brothers, Bill and his wife, Beverly of Marengo, Ill., and Jim and John and his wife, Joan, all of Whiting, and Rosemary and her husband, Gene Framke of DeLand, Fla., a sister-in-law, Esther Richardson of Whiting; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Donald; three sisters, Kathleen, Dorothy "Dee Dee" Jividen and Pauline "Port" Prochello; a son, Monte; and a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Janice) Johnson
