James L. "Jungle Jim" Richardson, 60, of Whiting, Iowa, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 1995, at Elmwood Care Center in Onawa.

He was born July 3, 1934, in Sioux City, the son of Harlan and Mary (Hohenstein) Richardson. He attended Whiting High School and was an army veteran. He married Jayna Riener July 27, 1958, in Des Moines. He worked for his brother, Don, in trucking and farming.

Survivors include a son, Roger of Avoca; two grandchildren, Ryan and Linsey, both of Avoca; two brothers, Bill and his wife Beverly of Marengo, Ill.,and John of Onawa; three sisters, Lucille "Oudy" Eliason of Sloan, Joanne and her husband, Bill Mortenson of Whiting and Rosemary and her husband, Gene Framke of Deland, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Donald and Carl; three sisters, Kathleen, Dorothy "DeeDee" Jividen and Pauline "Port" Prochello.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 1995, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa with Pastor Sarah L. Darter officiating. The organist was Sharon Hall. Peg Haakinson and Sharon Hall sany "You Light Up My Life". The hymn "In The Garden" was sung by Sharon Hall and Pastor Sarah L. Darter. The congregration sang "Amazing Grace".

Active Bearers were Maurice Brenden, Keith Hall, Bud O'Neal, Rex Kelley, Donnie Anderson, and Leon Henkel.

Honorary Bearers were Dale Kron, Lyle Mock, Archie Stubblefield, Paul Hightree, Richard Anderson and Bertel McCandless.

Interment was in the Whiting City Cemetery in Whiting with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
