Obituary of Mrs. Cora E. Henderson

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora E. Henderson were held at the Whiting Funeral Home on May 1, 1941, and burial services were conducted at the Grant Cemetery at Ticonic, Iowa. Rev. W. C. Bergman of the Whiting M. E. Church, was in charge of the services with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.

Cora E. Morris, daughter of Mark and Freelove Morris, was born November 21, 1858 (error--1859) in Pennsylvania and departed from this life April 28, 1941 at her home in Newell, S. Dak., after an illness of several years.

At the age of five she moved with her parents to Monona County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On December 31, 1877 at Ticonic, Iowa, she was married to Milo J. Henderson, who preceded her in death in 1916. To this union were born four children: Edna Blanche, who passed away at the age of three; Effie who died in 1924; Guy Henderson of Mountain Home, Idaho; and R. J. Henderson of Philip, S. Dak. One granddaughter in Chicago survives.

In early womanhood, she joined the Methodist Church and continued to be a faithful member during her life, being an active participant in church activities as long as she was able. She was a kind and loving mother, devoted to her family, and was to all who knew her a good neighbor and a kind friend. Her life of Christian service endeared her to the hearts of her family, her relatives & her friends.

Those attending from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Henderson of Philip, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Henderson and son, Glenn, Omaha, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Henderson and Ralph Henderson of Sioux City; C. L. Henderson of South Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Baker, Sergeant Bluff; Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Snyder, Salix; and Misses Blanche and Jo Carter.
