Onawa, Iowa--Daryl Glasser, 89, and Wanda Glasser, 88, of Onawa died Tueday, Aug 23, 2005, at their residence of accidental asphyxiation.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Community of Christ Church in Pisgah, Iowa, with evangelist John Lizer officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux (Iowa) Cemetery with military rites conducted by Monona County VFW Post # 2694 and the U.S.Army. Visitian will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Daryl was born Oct. 15, 1915, at Little Sioux, the son of Earl and Cecil Marie (Bonny) Glasser. He was raised in the Little Sioux area until moving to Colorado where he graduated from Loveland High School. He earned a teacher's certificate and taught school a few years.
Wanda Margaret was born Nov. 1, 1916, at Pisgah, the daughter of Earl and Leia Mae (Coberly) Mann. She was raised in the Pisgah area and attended Mann Country School before graduating from Pisgah High School.
Daryl and Wanda were married Feb. 4, 1939. They made their home in Logan, Iowa, where Daryl was Clerk of Court in Harrison County before joining the U.S. Army on March 31, 1944. He served in the medical division in the India Burma Theater during World War II.
During their 66 years of marriage, Darly and Wanda lived in Iowa, Arizona, California and Colorado. After retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Ariz.
Daryl was a member of Monona County VFW Post No. 2694, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge AF and AM. He was of the Methodist faith. Wanda was a member of Community of Christ Church.
Survivors include their son and his wife, Larry and Sandy Glasser of Centennial, Colo; and two grandchildren, Heather Glasser of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mike Glasser of Tucson, Ariz.
Daryl is survived by a sister and her husband, Donna Sue and Jim Callas of San Clemente, Calif.; and a brother, Buryl Glasser of Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Phil and Cedric; and an infant sister, Madelyn.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Donna Johnson and Lorna Pounds; and three brothers, Ted, Clint and Lloyd.
