Amelia Townley Conyers 1858-1917

Amelia Townley was born April 15, 1858 at Glastershire, England and died at her home in Pisgah, Ia. February 25, 1917. She was an adopted daughter of Wm. Townley Sr. She came with the family to America in 1865 and to Iowa in 1870. She united with the L.D.S. church in the year 1870. Was married to John J. Conyers in 1880.

To this union four children were born, two dying in infancy. The two remaining are Mrs. Rasmus Knudsen of Moorehead and Fred of Pisgah.
Her husband J.J. Conyers preceeded her to the great beyond about five years ago. He died December 22, 1911. After his death she moved from the farm in Monona County to Pisgah, in the year 1912, where she has resided until death called her.

She was a women highly respected and loved by all who knew her. Besides her relatives she leaves many friends to mourn. Funeral services were held February 27, 1917 at the L.D.S. church in Pisgah, conducted by Elder Joseph Lane, and a large procession of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Burial was made at the Preparation Cemetery, by the side of her husband.

Thus passed away a true saint and one of earth’s noblest daughters. “Precious in the sight of the Lord, , is the death of His saints. “Psalms 116:15
