J.E. Putnam, Former County Official Dead
Passed Away At His Home Near Mapleton, Saturday, January 8, 1955 At The Age Of 81 Years
He Served Monona County as Supervisor for a Number of Years—Funeral Service were Held on Tuesday, Rev. A.H. Ooken Officiating
Funeral services for J. E. Putnam, 81, well known Monona County Farmer and business man who died on Saturday January 8th, 1955 at his home near Mapleton were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Byers-Walter Funeral home in Mapleton with Rev. A.H. Ooken officiating. Burial was made in the St. Mary’s cemetery.
Mr. Putnam, during his life time had played a prominent part in the affairs of Monona County, having served many years as County Supervisor. He was also active in civic and township affairs and was a charter member of the Mapleton Cooperative and vice president of the Monona County Mutual Insurance Association.
Mr. Putnam was born December 1, 1873 at Meadow Grove , Nebraska. He had farmed in the Hornick and Mapleton areas and moved to Mapleton in 1947 to live a retired life.
He married Nevin O’Neill Brenner, August 25, 1947 in California.
Survivors in addition to the widow, are Mrs. Mary Hansen of Mapleton and Joseph Stanley of San Jose, Calif. Who had resided with the Putnam family since infancy.
