James R Lynn

James R Lynn, a lonftime resident of the Castana and Turin communities died Monday, December 17, at the Veteran Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, where he had been a patient about five weeks.

Mr Lynn was born November 11, 1897 at Oto, Iowa. He had been a farmer and carpenter all his life. At the time of his death he was 65 years, 1 month and 6 days of age.

He had made his home in Onawa with his sister, Mrs Margaret Heck for the past year. Prior to that time he lived for many years with a nephew, Gerald Lynn north of Turin. He was a veteran of WWi and WWII where he served in the U.S. army. He was a member of the Grimsley-Thayer Post No. 502 American Legion of Castana. He was also a member of St John's Catholic Church in Onawa.
Survivors include three sisiters, Mrs Agnes Kimsey, Upland, Calif, Mrs Anna Beeson, LaPuente, Calif.and Mrs Margaret Heck of Onawa. A number of Nieces and nephews and friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George-John-Cornelius and Marten Lynn.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the St Johns Catholic Church in Onawa. Father Thomas K Molloy officiated at the service.
The casket bearers were Maurice Jensen - Sam Hall- Watson Davis- Arvid Erlandson. The members of the Gremsley-Thayer Post attended in a group and conducted military rites at St Mays Cemetery at Oto. Allen Jordan, commander was in charge. Arrangement were by the Pearson funeral Home.
