Obituary
Mary Ann Le La Cheur Martin, was born in Prince Edward’s Island May 22, 1830, and died in Onawa, Iowa, October, 25, 1915, aged 85 years, 5 months and 3 days.

She moved to Iowa at the age of 17 where she has resided ever since, 36 years of which time has been spent in Monona County.

A number of years were on their farm in Ashton township and the remainder of the time in Onawa.
At the age of 22 she was married to James Martin. To this union were born five children, three boys and two girls, all of them survive her and were present at her funeral, W. H. Martin, of Edgewood, Iowa: Mrs. Jennie Maennell, W.W. Martin and Mrs. Anna Jones, of Onawa, and D.G. Martin of Winnebago, Nebraska.

She has 12 living grand-children and 20 great grand children.

She united with the Christian church of Greely Iowa, about 1870.

Besides her grand children she also leaves a husband in his 90th year to mourn her departure.
A short service was conducted from the home on Tuesday afternoon by C. R. Moore, minister of the Christian Church. He read the favorite scripture of the departed, the 23rd Psalm, and spoke a few words of comfort to the aged husband, children and other relatives.

After the ceremony she was laid to rest in the Onawa Cemetery. Her death was the first break in her family.

The bereaved wish to express their heart-felt thanks to all who so kindly assisted during the last illness of the deceased.
