He passed away December 4, 1937-
He was Well Known all Over the County- Funeral Services were Held Tuesday December 7.

Another old well known pioneer of this locality departed this life Saturday morning December 4—A. K. Wilkins, who no doubt held the record for long service in his profession, that of teaching school to which he devoted fifty-three years of his life in Monona County.
This editor knew Amos personally since our early school days, having attended the Depue school, cast, of Ute, over which Amos presided one term. Later on in years he purchased this newspaper and we acted as his printer. We could tell of many of the fine characteristics Amos possessed, but it is sufficient to say that he was loyal in his friendships, true and honest, and always put the best he possessed into the task before him. He lived a good long life, was just in his actions and estimations of his fellowmen.
Whatever may be the reward for living such a life, Amos will reap a just share.
Amos K Wilkins was born in Wilson, New York, March 28th, 1858 and passed away December 4, 1937 at Ute, Iowa, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 6 days.
He grew to manhood in Lockport, New York, where he became affillated with the Baptist Church from which his membership was never removed. After receiving his B.A. Degree at the University of Buffalo, at Buffalo, New York, he came west, locating in Onawa, where he taught school. He continued in his profession for 53 years, discharging his duties faithfully.
In 1886 he was united in marriage, to Cora F. Dorothy, who preceded him in death, May 12, 1933. To this union were born four children. Mrs. Dorothy Grebe, Stuckney, S. D. deceased: Mrs. Georgia Thompson, Ute: John D. Wilkins, San Jone, California and Mrs. Marion Larson Billings, Montana. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Edward Carter of Gobies, Michigan: several grand children and two great grand children.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Tuesday afternoon, December 7 conducted by Rev. Humphrey pastor of the Onawa Christian church. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery.
