Charles Henry Davis was born October 5, 1882 at Ute, Iowa and passed from this life in the Onawa hospital on Sunday evening July 22, 1 962. Death came following a long illness, he had reached the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 17 days.

Most of his lifetime was spent in Monona County having worked as a painter after leaving the farm in 1931. On April 21, 1904, he was united in marriage with Pearl Kelley at Ute, Iowa. She preceded him in death several years ago.

He was loved by all who knew him for his joy of living and sense of humor. He lived a good Christian life and was always ready to help his family and friends.

Survivors include his six children: Phillip of Castana, Dwight of Sioux City, Mrs. Lucille Struble of Ute, Iowa, Mrs. Leona Richardson of Whiting, Iowa, Mrs Esther Barney and Lynn Davis both of Onawa. There are 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren along with a number of other relatives and friends.

Besides his wife Pearl, he was preceded in death by a son Edward and a grandson, Charles Henry Davis and a granddaughter, Phyllis Struble.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 1962 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Orland Ferris sang "In The Garden" accompanied at the organ my Mrs. Olliver Kelley. Bearers were Farrell Barney, Gary, Jerry and Monte Richardson, Sherman Struble and Daniel Davis. Interment was made in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute, Iowa with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home.
