I am just guessing this....but I think the entries were made by descendants of that particular person. When information is gathered to put together an Atlas...one of the ways is by someone (paid or volunteering) to go door-to-door asking for submissions (articles or photos) to use. This still happens to this day when a county decides to put together an Atlas.

So, if a family was asked to share pictures and information on their farm, homestead, etc. and they provide a lot of information...even about their ascendants, the Atlas might have chosen to use that.

Just my thought, perhaps someone else has an idea.
