Dennis James Rake, age 53, of Clarion and formerly of Osage, passed away peacefully with his caregivers, Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Monsignor John Hemann and Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Dennis was born December 12, 1964, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Patricia (Heimer) Rake. Dennis lived in Comprehensive Systems in Charles City for 15 years. He then lived for one year at the Vinton School for the Blind, where he played “Silent Night” for the Christmas Concert. The next 32 years, he spent his time at Woodward Resource Center in Woodward. In recent years he resided in Eagle Grove and Clarion. Music had the most significant impact on Dennis’s life. Dennis listened to various songs while sitting in his recliner which was his entertainment. His all-time favorite food was French Fries.
Dennis is survived by his parents, Marvin and Patricia Rake of Osage; sister, Denise McCourt and her husband Thomas and their children, Gordon and Marrisa of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother, Jim Rake and his wife Jen and their children, Josh and Jace of Vinton, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Janet (Hugh) Boeset, Doris (Bill) Heimer, Gayle (Mike) Heimer, Shirley (Elwood) Rake, Marj (Mike) Fox; many cousins and special friends, Martha and Ben Sheehy of Perry, Iowa
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maynard and Virgie Rake, Robert and MaryAnn Heimer.
Our family expresses tremendous gratitude to all facilities where Dennis resided. Dennis is an organ donor with two boys in Iowa receiving a gift of love.
