ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Leona Wenger, 94, of St. Ansgar died Friday, April 24, 2015, at Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

Leona Wenger

St. Ansgar, Iowa - Leona Wenger, 94, of St. Ansgar, died on April 24, 2015, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville, Iowa.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Leona was born April 14, 1921 in Dallas County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Britton) Bever. She graduated from high school in Dallas Center, Iowa. She met Kerman C. Wenger in church, and they were married on February 7, 1941 and celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this year. They made their home in St. Ansgar following retirement from farming.

Leona was a mother to a son, Clifford N. Wenger and a daughter, Dixie Fox. Leona was a homemaker, who enjoyed feeding the birds and cutting quilt squares for missions. She collected buttons for many years. She was a member of the St. Ansgar Baptist Church and loved the Lord as her personal Savior and Redeemer.

She was preceded in death by sisters Evelyn, Beulah, Esther and brother Bud.

Leona is survived by her husband Kerman; son, Clifford (Mary); daughter, Dixie Fox (Ed); grandchildren, Lonnie Fox (Shelly), Vicki Noordhoek (Jonathon), Corey Fox, Angela Schubert (Dan) and Andy Wenger (Melissa). Also surviving are great grandchildren Jason and Tessa Schubert, Anthony Wenger (Samatha) and one great- great granddaughter, Madison Wenger.
