Loren Harold Norby was born February 1, 1920 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa to Carl Halsteinsen Norby and Ida Bertina Olsen, the youngest of their five children.

Loren was baptized on March 28, 1920 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr & Mrs Lars Bastian Larson; Herbert and Thelma Johnson. He was confirmed on May 20, 1934 at RCLC.

Found in the 1925 - 1940 censuses living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1925: Carl Norby 50, Ida B Norby 41, Rossella T Norby 17, Herbert L Norby 14, Kenneth I Norby 9, Lorey H Norby 4.

1930: Carl Norby 55, Ida B Norby 46, Herbert L Norby 20, Kenneth I Norby 15, Loren H Norby 10.

1940: Carl Norby 65, Ida Norby 56, Kenneth Norby 24, Loren Norby 20.

He graduated from Osage High school in Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

Loren married Constance Mae Theisen on October 30, 1954 at Dubuque, Iowa. The couple had 2 children.

Loren died January 11, 1999 at Dubuque, Iowa and was buried at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa.

Obituary in Osage Iowa Press News, January 20, 1999:
Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa for Loren H. Norby, age 78. Pastor George H. Bauman officiated and burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.

He died Monday, January 11, 1999 at his home. Loren managed a farm store.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Rosella Klemesrud; and one brother, Kenneth Norby. Those that survive him include his wife, Connie of Dubuque; one daughter, Paula and husband, Brian Enke of Dubuque; one son, Greg and wife, Brenda of Dubuque; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Norby and his wife, Alice, of Osage, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
