Dr. Laurence Harvey Norby was born July 16, 1944 in Iowa.

He was baptized on November 5, 1944 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mrs Lyla Gast; Lowell Olsen and Harvey Norby. He was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran in Osage, Iowa and attended school in Osage.

Laurence attended college and became a doctor.

He married Cheryl Joan Cameron on August 27, 1966 and had they had 3 children.

Dr. Laurence H Norby died June 17, 1980 at Iowa City, Johnson, Iowa and was buried at Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

Osage Press News, June 25, 1980 Obituary:
Dr. Laurence Norby, 35, died June 17, 1980, in his office at the University hospitals in Iowa City. Cause of death is unknown at time of press. The Rev. Harold Larsen officiated at the funeral. Services were held in Iowa City on June 20th and at Our Savior's Lutheran, Osage, Iowa on June 21st.

Laurence Harvey Norby was born July 16, 1944, the son of Harvey and Mary Louise Champion Norby. He graduated from Osage High in 1962, and from Duke University in 1966. He received his Dr. of Medicine degree at the University of Iowa in 1970, serving his internship at Hennepin county hospital in Minneapolis in 1970-71.

He served his internal medicine residency in necrology at the University of Iowa, and served with the Army as a major at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C., from 1974 to 1977. He returned to the Univ. of Iowa as an assistant professor of internal medicine in 1977, a position he held at the time of his death.

He remained active in the Army Active Reserve until present. He was a member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Iowa City and locally, he was 1965-66 Sunny Brae golf champion.

In 1970, he was the Osage amateur golf champion. In connection with his life work, he was a member of the Amer. Fed. of Clinical Research; Amer. Soc. of Nephrology; Int. Soc. of Nephrology; the Amer. and Ia. Heart Assoc. In 1978, he served as a member of the research and grant committee of the Ia. Kidney Foundation.

He was a member of the Midwest Salt and Water Club; coordinator of the Renal Lab. of Univ. of Ia. Hospitals; and was assistant dir. of the Clinical Research Center at the Univ. hospitals. He was married in Osage, Iowa. His wife, one son, and two daughters survive.
